Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security
The Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security (DEPWS), with Eastern Arrernte Traditional Owners, are inviting members of the public to have their say on the draft Joint Management Plan for Arltunga Historical Reserve (Arnerre-ntyenge).
Arltunga Historical Reserve (Arnerre-ntyenge) is situated 110km east of Alice Springs, amongst the hilly terrain of the East MacDonnell Ranges.
It offers visitors a unique insight into a shared cultural landscape, incorporating Eastern Arrernte sacred sites, Aboriginal archaeological sites historical buildings and a shared mining history.
The draft Plan sets out management in line with the Reserve’s cultural values, its status as an authentic historical goldmining experience and a place for conservation.
