Cricket Australia (CA) advises that Australian Men’s Open Indoor player Ashley Paddison has been charged with a Level 3 breach of the CA Code of Conduct.
Paddison was reported for breaching CA’s Code of Conduct Article 2.3.5 (Where the facts of the alleged incident are not adequately or clearly covered by any of the above offences, conduct at any time that either: (a) is contrary to the spirit of the game; (b) is unbecoming of a representative or official; (c) is or could be harmful to the interests of cricket; or (d) does or could bring the game of cricket into disrepute.
Paddison was charged on 27 December 2018 after the Australian Men’s Open Indoor Team tour in Sri Lanka in September 2018.
The offence occurred on the final day of the Tour after the teams’ final match at the Indoor Sports Centre in Columbo where Paddison’s conduct was found to be unbecoming of a representative or official, was harmful to the interest of cricket and brought the game of cricket into disrepute.
CA Head of Integrity Sean Carroll considered the official report, downgrading the report to a Level 2 offence and proposed a sanction of the imposition of two Suspension Points (where an Indoor Match is given a weighting of one Suspension Point).
An indoor Match includes any match played as part of the National Indoor Cricket League or a National Indoor Cricket Championship.
Paddison admitted to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction.
