Assault and attempted vehicle theft charges at Surfers Paradise, QLD

Two juveniles have been charged in relation to an assault and attempted vehicle theft at Surfers Paradise last night, 13 June.

It is alleged, just after 6pm the victim, a 42-year-old man, was outside his vehicle, a white Jeep Grand Cherokee, at a Laycock Street address when a juvenile has entered the vehicle and attempted to start it.

It is alleged a 60-year-old woman, and a child were in the vehicle at the time.

The 42-year-old man has allegedly pulled the juvenile out of the Jeep and a physical struggle occurred, with a second juvenile offender and a second victim, a 36-year-old woman, allegedly becoming involved.

During the struggle, one of the offenders has allegedly punched the female victim in the face a number of times.

Both offenders allegedly left the scene in a nearby black Kia Rio.

Police allege the Kia, and the alleged offenders were located a short time later on Riverview Parade where they were taken into custody.

A17-year-old Grafton boy has been charged with one count each of attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle used actual violence in company, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst in company in public place while adversely affected by intoxicating substance , common assault in public place while adversely affected by intoxicating substance and dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.

A second 17-year-old Grafton boy has been charged with one count each of attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle used actual violence in company, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst in company in public place while adversely affected by intoxicating substance and common assault in public place while adversely affected by intoxicating substance.

Both boys are expected to appear in the Southport Childrens Court on 17 June.
