To ensure the security of Northern Territory Government systems in the face of continually evolving risks, the Territory Labor Government is investing $7.5 million annually to enhance cyber security controls and capability.
The global cyber security environment continues to grow more complex as threats increase in frequency, and the Territory Labor Government recognises the need for continual investment to protect Territorians’ data held by Government.
This investment will support the defence of the Government’s key critical infrastructure through a bolstering of Government’s cyber security workforce by 30 new graduate and specialised cyber security roles, along with additional cyber security tools and cyber threat monitoring, intelligence and analysis capability.
It will also better position the Northern Territory to align to national efforts to uplift cyber security posture under national strategies.
This announcement follows a joint investment with the Federal Government and Charles Darwin University (CDU) to deliver two new VET programs in cyber security.
There is a growing demand for cyber security experts and this year has seen 25 students enrol in CDU’s new Certificate IV in Cyber Security.
