Brimbank Council has adopted an Annual Budget 2022-2023 following extensive community consultation.
Council has delivered a financially responsible budget that prioritises improving parks, roads and sporting facilities, addresses climate emergency, supports our community with mental health and wellbeing initiatives, and business support initiatives that promote economic recovery from COVID-19.
The Budget will continue to play a critical role in underpinning our recovery efforts and supporting the community through COVID-19, while also delivering much-needed services and programs across our community.
The final Budget has been shaped by the feedback and ideas shared during Council’s extensive budget community engagement, and is consistent with the vision and objectives in the Council Plan 2021-2025 and Community Vision 2040.
This Budget will invest $56.64 million on capital works to fund the delivery of projects, services and facilities across our city, including:
- $5.57 million for playgrounds, parks, gardens, skate parks and dog parks
- $26.21 million to improve roads and replace footpaths and kerbsides
- $11.45 million for sports facility upgrades, including Keilor Lodge Pitch 3 construction and Ardeer Reserve Design, construction of Green Gully Reserve front car park, sport netting for Barclay Baseball, commencement of construction for Green Gully Reserve Oval
- $1.2 million to upgrade town centres
- $1.78 million for community facilities improvements
- $1.57 million on bike paths and shared paths
- $1.02 million on land rehabilitation
- $1.23 million on stormwater drainage rehabilitation
- $800,000 on library books
- $905,000 on traffic management.
Throughout the consultation period we heard from many in our community about their views on the draft budget. Based on the feedback, we’ve made several changes to the budget, including:
- $50,000 more to support the Keilor Sports Club in progressing to detailed designs and costings for redevelopment of the facility
- $50,000 more for installation of a concrete path around the perimeter of Pitch 1, Keilor Park
- $11,000 one-off grant to support Western Chances to undertake a Social Return on Investment Evaluation
- $20,000 more for an Arts Hub in Brimbank for micro arts organisations working with diversity
