Water police wish to check on the welfare of a scull rower after two broken oars were recovered from the Brisbane River today.

The oars (pictured) were located at Hamilton and are believed to be from a rowing scull similar to the racing boats used in the Olympics.

One of the damaged oars was found just off the beach at Hamilton North Shore, near the Citycat Terminal while the other was located snapped in half on a rock wall a towards the Gateway Bridge.

Water Police later recovered the remaining piece of this second oar floating downstream.

The oars are “Croker” brand with white blade, black shaft, yellow handles and pink collars.

Each has a strip of green and yellow electrical tape around the shaft with the name “Nick” written in permanent marker.

A search has been conducted of foreshore from Hamilton to Bulimba and back however no further wreckage has been located.

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate the owner of the oars so they can firstly ensure they are safe, and also return the property.
