Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport, Scott Buchholz is this week back in North Queensland to meet with local Mayors and inspect a number of significant infrastructure projects.

Mr Buchholz lands in Mount Isa today, before driving to Cloncurry to meet with Mayor Greg Campbell and Council.

Later in the day, Mr Buchholz will inspect the Will’s Development Road which is set to receive $4.4 million in Federal funding from the $2 billion Road Safety Program.

Mr Buchholz will also travel via road to Richmond, Hughenden, Torrens Creek and Townsville over the coming days.

Mr Buchholz said he took seriously the importance of road transport in regional Queensland and as Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport he wanted to get an insight into the benefits of the investments being made locally.

“I look forward to travelling across North and North Western Queensland and working with Mayors to ensure our investments were delivering for local residents, businesses and farmers.

“This is a vast wealth producing region and our $110 billion infrastructure investment program is delivering upgrades.

“These investments, big and small, are improving road safety, connecting communities and helping to get product from paddock to port,” Mr Buchholz said.
