Building Equitable Futures In Construction

Victoria is leading the nation when it comes to equality in the construction sector, making it fairer and more equal for all.

Minister for Industrial Relations Tim Pallas today launched the Building Equitable Futures Strategy 2024-32 at the Ison Road Overpass construction site in Werribee – where women make up 30 per cent of the workforce across a range of roles.

The Allan Labor Government’s four-year action identifies enduring actions to increase the number of women in trade, non-trade, and professional roles across the civil, commercial and industrial sectors which have historically been male dominated.

The strategy draws on global evidence of what works and is informed by the voices of the people who work in the construction industry and have the capacity to create change – building upon the success of our previous Women in Construction Strategy.

The Building Equitable Futures Strategy was developed by in consultation with employers, industry associations and unions, who have worked collaboratively on the strategy and its associated actions.

The Government’s Building Equality Policy complements the strategy by establishing targets for training and employment opportunities for women in the sector.
