“The Australian Industry Group welcomes the decision by the Building Ministers’ Forum to take action to coordinate with industry the implementation of the Shergold/Weir report into building industry enforcement and compliance,” Ai Group chief executive Innes Willox said today.
“It is welcome to see the collective Australian governments collaborating on these significant matters.
“There is a lot to do and industry participants look forward to working with the Australian Building Codes Board and the governments to expeditiously address the current issues impacting public confidence in the regulation of this critically important industry.
“The commitment by the Industry Minister, Karen Andrews, to fully resource the ABCB is essential to the success of the proposal and is most welcome.
“We look forward to seeing the full details of other proposals to address the outstanding issues facing the industry,” Mr Willox said.
