Bus Boost Begins For Latrobe Valley Locals

  • Minister for Public Transport

Locals in the Latrobe Valley will now have more buses and better connections to existing public transport with an increase in bus services thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

The Labor Government is increasing bus services between Moe and Newborough, extending bus hours and ensuring public transport connections to the new GovHub being built in Morwell.

From 23 June, services on Routes 14 and 15 will finish later weekdays and weekends and Route 14 will start earlier on weekdays.

Route 14 services between Moe and Newborough will begin two hours earlier at 6.10am on weekdays, with the last services being extended until 7.10pm Monday to Thursday and 9.10pm on Fridays.

Weekend services will also operate longer, with the last service on Route 14 on Saturday and Sunday extended to 6.10pm.

Services on Route 15 between Moe and Newborough will run longer on weekdays and weekends, with services extended an hour later Monday to Thursday, and to 9.43pm on Fridays.

Weekend services on Route 15 will also run an hour later on Saturdays and two hours later on Sundays, providing more options and improving local transport connections for the community.

Route 21 servicing Morwell will also run to the new GovHub facility. Construction of the new facility will get underway mid-2019 and is scheduled for completion in 2020. When completed it will house up to 300 workers and create up to 100 local jobs during construction.

Extending Route 21 now, and installing a new bus stop, will improve public transport access for construction workers and provide better links to other destinations in the Morwell town centre.

These latest service improvements follow the introduction of an upgraded bus network for the Latrobe Valley in April 2017 which delivered improved connections, journey times and expanded coverage.

New timetables and maps outlining the service changes are available at ptv.vic.gov.au.
