Public Works Advisory (PWA) has released its report into Toplace development “Vicinity” after last week’s inspection of the building’s structure.
The report for the complex at 11-15 Charles Street, Canterbury, supports the initial evaluation that there is no immediate safety risk to residents.
NSW Building Commissioner David Chandler recommended PWA’s intervention before the October 13 inspection and said the report’s recommendations had his full support.
“PWA’s report details a full list of immediate, urgent and long-term recommendations, which have the full backing of myself and NSW Fair Trading,” Mr Chandler said.
“Among these include a monitoring program to start immediately to easily identify any future issues.
“The report also requires a rectification plan and schedule to repair all structural faults required to bring the building into compliance with the Building Code of Australia.
“NSW Fair Trading will also start its own post-Occupation Certificate (OC) audit, which involves a review of designs and documents for building work as well as an on-site inspection, where key building elements of structure, waterproofing, fire rating systems, building services and external enclosures will be reviewed.”
