Casey’s kinder kids to take home free plants

Despite one of the City of Casey’s most popular events unable to proceed as usual this year, the City of Casey is excited to announce it has found another way to hold its annual plant giveaway!

For the last 18 years Council has held a plant giveaway in May, whereby ratepayers can pop past a local shopping centre to collect two FREE native plants for their homes.

Unfortunately, this year due to the restrictions in place from COVID-19, the giveaway won’t proceed like usual, however Council officers have found another fun way to ensure that some of our residents can still take home these new additions to their garden.

Over the coming weeks, officers will deliver the plants to every Casey managed kindergarten across the community, so that our up and coming green thumbs can take a piece of nature home with them to nurture.

So, if you’re a kinder family, keep an eye out for the greenery and be sure to grab one as you go.

In addition to this, to promote the launch of Casey’s new food waste recycling program, Council will also distribute FREE native plants alongside 3,000 FREE food waste recycling caddies.

The caddies are being given away to households that volunteer to be a part of the first phase of the new food waste program.

You can become a food waste warrior today by registering to receive your free kitchen caddy AND native plants, just visit the Casey Conversations website.
