CCTV released following July 2025 fatal shooting of Athan Boursinos

One year on, detectives from the Homicide Squad are releasing CCTV footage and appealing for assistance following the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man in Wollert in July 2025.

Investigators believe a New South Wales organised crime syndicate was likely responsible for the death of Athan Boursinos but that they also received assistance from at least two Victorian men in the form of arranging transport and accommodation.

Boursinos was approached by offenders in a laneway behind a Champions Parade residential address shortly before 9am on Thursday, 31 July.

He was then shot a number of times and was declared deceased at the scene.

The offenders fled the scene in a waiting Nissan Patrol, which was later found burnt out on Amery Street in Reservoir around 9.15am. The Patrol had been stolen from a Reservoir address in June 2025.

Detectives are today releasing CCTV of this vehicle being set alight, with a man captured running from the scene.

Investigators allege three offenders then entered a grey Volkswagen Golf, previously stolen from a Hampton East address in March 2025.

The Volkswagen Golf travelled to an address in Dallas, where three offenders entered a residential address.

An Isuzu D-Max driven by a fourth offender then arrives at the Hampden Street residence.

Detectives are today releasing CCTV footage of three men leaving this address and entering the Isuzu D-Max around 11.50am.

The Isuzu D-Max travelled to Reservoir where it’s believed two offenders were dropped off.

Investigators believe the Isuzu D-Max continued on with two offenders to the Glenroy area.

The Golf was located burnt out on Rosehill Boulevard in Mickleham.

Investigators released images of two men they wished to speak to in November 2025. Those two men were identified and have been spoken to.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who recognises any of the men in the vision or with any information that could assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au

Quotes attributable to Detective Inspector Leigh Howse:

“Following a protracted investigation over the last 12 months, we are now at a point where we need the public’s assistance on the roles and identities of four men we believe were involved in this homicide.

“At this stage, we believe two of those men are from New South Wales, and two are from Victoria. It is likely that the two men from New South Wales were contracted to carry out the murder, and the two Victorians have assisted with booking accommodation and providing and driving getaway vehicles.

“Through a CCTV canvas, we have also been able to link the group to three vehicles on the day of the incident: a Nissan, an Isuzu and the Volkswagen, and to trace the movements of those vehicles.

“We are still working to establish the possible motive for Athan’s murder, though we have several lines of enquiry underway. Athan’s various connections to organised crime add a greater level of complexity to the investigation.

“If you believe you have any information relating to the men who carried out this murder, now is the time to speak up.”
