A recreational flying school is among the initiatives being made possible in Collie’s transitioning economy with support from the latest grants from the McGowan Government.
Through the Collie Futures Small Grants Program, the McGowan Government will provide $100,000 towards the establishment of the Collie Flight Training School at Collie.
The training school will offer the Recreational Pilot Certificate under Recreational Aviation Australia, attracting visitors wanting to earn their wings.
A $63,814 grant will assist Busy Bee Dry Cleaners to expand through the purchase of new laundry equipment and the diversification of services.
The expansion will allow Busy Bee Dry Cleaners to keep up with growing demand from accommodation providers for its popular linen cleaning service.
An allocation of $38,683 will support Collabs Scientific Services to develop a business case into the viability of establishing a scientific services business in Collie, utilising an abandoned facility.
The McGowan Government is investing more than $662 million to diversify Collie’s economy and support the town’s long-term future as it transitions away from a reliance on the coal sector.
The Collie Futures Fund, incorporating the Collie Futures Small Grants Program and Collie Futures Industry Development Fund, is part of this package to attract new industries and create local jobs.
