MidCoast Council’s Community Conversation series has wrapped up after bringing Councillors, senior staff, residents, community groups and business owners together in conversations across the region.
The series gave people the chance to hear directly from Council and talk about the issues that matter most in their local area.
A total of 335 people attended one of 14 Conversations from Johns River in the north to Tea Gardens in the south and Gloucester in the west.
This year’s program featured more time for residents to talk and ask questions, and less time spent on presenting information.
“Community Conversations are an important way for us to listen, learn and work together,” MidCoast Council’s Mayor Claire Pontin said.
“We heard a wide range of views and ideas from people who care deeply about their communities.
“While financial and legal constraints sometimes mean that we can’t do everything the community would like, we have already been able to attend to a number of issues raised at the recent conversations.
“Thanks to all those who made the effort to attend. By working together, we can get better outcomes for our communities,” said Mayor Pontin.
Council will be back with another series of Community Conversations later this year. To keep informed of upcoming Conversations, follow the Have Your Say page www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au/community-conversations
