Community shows up for Volunteering Expo – Wollongong

Volunteering is the lifeblood of so many of the important social, environment and community programs that make our city a great place to live and we were excited to see so many people show up to the Volunteering Expo on Thursday 19 May.

Held at the Wollongong Town Hall, the Volunteering Expo brought together all kinds of volunteering opportunities under one roof, for people to browse and choose from.

The Volunteering Expo was hosted by Wollongong City Council’s service, Volunteering Illawarra, which provides information on volunteering vacancies, support, referral and training opportunities in the Wollongong, Shellharbour, and Kiama Local Government Areas.

“Showing up and saying ‘I can lend a hand’ is the first step towards becoming a volunteer and being a volunteer is about putting your community first and giving back,” Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.
