Consultation now open for Shared Use Path Masterplan

The City of Mount Gambier is inviting community feedback to inform the development of a Shared Use Path Masterplan.

The Shared Use Path Masterplan will provide Council with a framework to increase cycling and walking across the City through improved connectivity and shared pathway networks.

Environmental Sustainability Officer Aaron Izzard said the positive impacts identified within the Rail Trail corridor have highlighted the need for Council to provide an integrated and connected shared use pathways network.

“The development of a masterplan follows the success of shared use paths locally and broader afield, including the recently constructed and extended Mount Gambier Railway Lands and Rail Trail,” Environmental Sustainability Officer Aaron Izzard said.

“The Shared Use Path Masterplan will set directions and priorities for developing the cycling and walking system.”

To help develop the new masterplan, Council is seeking input from residents and visitors to the City regarding current perceptions, experiences, challenges, and opportunities in relation to cycle paths, shared paths, on road cycling and footpaths.
