Conversation with Paralympians

Meet two of Australia’s most successful Paralympians for a virtual conversation and Q&A session when the second event of the Sport4All webinar series continues Wednesday 13 October.

Weeks after their effort and determination to succeed on the international stage provided inspiration to the country, three-time Paralympian Carol Cooke and dual Paralympian Heath Davidson will talk about their journeys from beginning sports to being picked to represent Australia at the Paralympic Games.

‘A Conversation with Paralympians’ is an opportunity to ask two of Australia’s best para-athletes about their challenges, their victories, and how their experiences can help guide us at the grassroots level to allow the next generation to thrive.

Carol Cooke has represented Australia in Para-cycling, where she won three gold medals at London and Rio. In the recent Tokyo Paralympics, she medalled for a fourth time, bringing home a silver medal in the women’s time trial T1-2 category. Since her diagnosis with multiple sclerosis in 1998, she has become an ambassador for others dealing with the disease and continues to be a beacon of resilience and determination.

Heath Davidson has scaled the heights of international wheelchair tennis, from a career-high singles ranking of fourth in the world in 2018, to winning doubles gold at the Rio Paralympics and becoming a four-time consecutive Australian Open doubles champion with his trusty partner Dylan Alcott. The pair won silver in the quad doubles at the recent Tokyo Games.

This session is the second of three Sport4All webinars hosted by City of Stonnington. The third session, ‘Coaching Para-Sports’ is scheduled for Wednesday 10 November.
