Coronavirus update for Victoria 19 November 2021

Yesterday, 5,842 vaccine doses were administered by Victoria’s state-commissioned services. The total number of doses administered through state-run services is 4,798,141.

93.6 per cent of Victorians aged 16 and over have now had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 89.3 per cent have had two doses. 93.3 per cent of Victorians aged 12 and over have now had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 88.5 per cent have had two doses. This excludes the most recent Commonwealth data.

There are 330 COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria, 57 active cases and 58 cleared cases are in intensive care, with 30 cases on a ventilator. Of those in hospital 74 per cent were not fully vaccinated and of those in ICU 90 per cent were not fully vaccinated.

Victoria was notified of 1273 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. All cases were locally acquired. The 10 Local Government areas with the highest number of new cases are Wyndham, Hume, Casey, Melton, Brimbank, Whittlesea, Glen Eira, Port Phillip, Stonnington and Melbourne.

All locations containing new cases will be published today at Victorian COVID-19 data.

There are 13,813 active cases in Victoria. The total number of confirmed cases in Victoria since the beginning of the pandemic is 109,495.

Sadly, the Department was notified yesterday of eight deaths of people aged in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. This brings the total number of deaths in Victoria since the pandemic began to 1,268.

73,020 COVID-19 tests were processed yesterday. The total number of tests performed in Victoria since the pandemic began is 14,475,961.

There are currently more than 80,700 active primary close contacts in isolation in Victoria.

Lifting of restrictions

The Acting Chief Health Officer has determined that from 11:59pm last night, Thursday 18 November, nearly all remaining restrictions would be lifted state-wide for fully vaccinated people.
