Coronavirus update for Victoria 20 November 2021

Yesterday, 6,920 vaccine doses were administered by Victoria’s state-commissioned services. The total number of doses administered through state-run services is 4,804,886.

93.4 per cent of Victorians aged 12 and over have now had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 89.0 per cent have had two doses. This excludes the most recent Commonwealth data.

There are 312 COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria, 55 active cases and 59 cleared cases are in intensive care, with 24 cases on a ventilator. Of those in hospital 75 per cent were not fully vaccinated and of those in ICU 78 per cent were not fully vaccinated.

Victoria was notified of 1166 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. All cases were locally acquired. The 10 Local Government areas with the highest number of new cases are Hume, Wyndham, Brimbank, Whittlesea, Melton, Casey, Greater Dandenong, Port Phillip, Glen Eira and Melbourne.

All locations containing new cases will be published today at Victorian COVID-19 data.

There are 9,581 active cases in Victoria. The total number of confirmed cases in Victoria since the beginning of the pandemic is 110,662.

Sadly, the Department was notified yesterday of five deaths, including a child aged under 10 years and in people aged in their 80s and 90s. This brings the total number of deaths in Victoria since the pandemic began to 1,273. The child aged under 10 years, who died with COVID-19, also had other serious comorbidities.

64,050 COVID-19 tests were processed yesterday. The total number of tests performed in Victoria since the pandemic began is 14,540,011.

There are currently more than 59,500 active primary close contacts in isolation in Victoria.

Lifting of restrictions

The Acting Chief Health Officer has determined that from 11:59pm Thursday 18 November, nearly all remaining restrictions would be lifted state-wide for fully vaccinated people.
