Correctional officer charged after contraband investigation, NSW

Detectives have charged a Corrective Services NSW officer following an investigation into the introduction of contraband at a correctional centre on the state’s Mid North Coast.

Last month, detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit (CSIU) established Strike Force Acres to investigate the introduction of contraband by a female correctives officer.

Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 49-year-old woman at a home at Port Macquarie about 11am yesterday (Tuesday 1 September 2020).

She was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station and charged with unlawfully secrete thing for inmate to receive.

Police will allege in court that the woman, who is a Corrective Services NSW officer, trafficked tobacco and two mobile phone chargers into a correctional facility in July this year.

The woman was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 14 October 2020.

The woman has been suspended by Corrective Services NSW.

Investigations are continuing.
