Council services gradually return

From Monday, more visitors will be allowed to use selected Melton City Council services, with restrictions that impact libraries, sports and aquatic centres, and other community facilities, further easing.

This is in line with advice from the State Government, and will include strict limits and safety measures.

Among the changes, libraries can now have up to 50 customers and will allow browsing, borrowing and computer use with a visiting limit of 30 minutes.

Maternal and Child Health services will also offer face-to-face appointments to all families with babies aged 0 to 8 weeks.

Sport and recreation facilities can begin to reopen in a limited capacity to support competition for non-contact sports in small groups, with further allowances for junior sports.

Mayor Cr Lara Carli said the gradual return to face-to-face services would complement continued online programs.

“I’m pleased that we can now welcome residents back to some Council activities, while also continuing to provide online programing that meets the needs of the whole community,” Cr Carli said.

“The safety of our residents and staff is our priority, and we appreciate how our community continues to adapt to the changing circumstances.

“Although we are moving towards regaining some normality, it’s important that we continue to be aware of the restrictions and make sure we’re doing everything we can to stay safe.”

All visitors to Council facilities will need to have their details recorded under State Government regulations. Visitors will also be required to stay 1.5 metres from others and practice safe hygiene.

A number Council programs will continue to be delivered online to provide activities and entertainment to the community including crafts, cooking, exercise, and storytime. See our online programs at facebook.com/cityofmelton
