A 17-year-old Labrador girl has been charged with several offences after the alleged stolen car she was driving crashed into a police vehicle in Upper Coomera today (December 3).
At around 10am police observed a stolen Holden Commodore utility travelling northbound on the Gold Coast Highway, Surfers Paradise.
Police, including Polair, monitored and tracked the vehicle.
Around 10.30am police observed the car as it turned into Stacer Street, Upper Coomera. Two police cars turned into the street shortly after.
It will be alleged the girl driving the vehicle then performed a U-turn before colliding head on with an unmarked police car.
A male senior constable who was a passenger in the vehicle was transported to hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.
The girl was taken into custody without incident and charged with one count of unlawful use of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs and driving without a licence.
The Holden Commodore was allegedly stolen from a Tugun address overnight between November 30 and December 1.
The girl is due to appear before the Southport Children’s Court.
