Queensland Police have charged five people following a traffic crash involving a reportedly stolen vehicle at Surfers Paradise last night, September 22.
It will be alleged around 8:40pm, officers were patrolling on foot along Surfers Paradise Boulevard before they spotted a vehicle, reportedly stolen from an Oxenford address, on Monday, September 18.
When officers approached the vehicle, it will be alleged the driver accelerated forward, knocking one officer to the ground, and collided with another vehicle in front of it.
Officers were then able to take the vehicle’s five occupants into custody.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 69-year-old woman, was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
The injured officer, a male senior constable, was transported to Pindara Private Hospital.
A 16-year-old Labrador boy has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, acts intended to resist arrest, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Southport Childrens Court today.
A 19-year-old Loganholme woman was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
A 20-year-old North Booval man was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
A 35-year-old Paradise Point man was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
A 36-year-old Nerang man was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
All four adults were refused police bail and are due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
