Don’t forget – 2020 Kindergarten registrations closing soon

29 May 2019

If your child is eligible to attend Kindergarten on the Mornington Peninsula in 2020, registrations close Sunday 30 June 2019.

Kindergarten, also known as Preschool, is a program for children aged 3 – 6 years old, delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher.

Mornington Peninsula Shire utilises the Kindergarten Central Registration system, a streamlined and transparent application and allocation process that is fair and equitable for all families.

Kindergarten is an important step for young children with research showing that early education helps set children up for a bright future.

Kindergarten improves children’s health and wellbeing, helps develop strong social skills and encourages a love of learning.

Children who go to Kindergarten are more independent, confident and are more likely to make a smooth transition to Primary School.

The Victorian Government subsidises fees for some children, so they can attend Kindergarten for free or at low cost in the year before they start Primary School.

Your child is eligible if they:

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Are a triplet or quadruplet (or higher)
  • Hold (or have a parent or guardian who holds) an eligible concession card or refugee, humanitarian or asylum seeker visa.
