Development of the Hobsons Bay Wetlands Centre will begin this year, with early works planned for HD Graham Reserve in Altona Meadows.
Council has committed $1.5 million for the early works of the centre, which is one of Council’s advocacy priorities.
The early works will establish a temporary activity hub for the Hobsons Bay Wetlands Centre while Council continues planning and advocating for the long-term vision for the site.
The early works will include an activity/meeting room for Wetlands Centre volunteers and the community, undercover outdoor activity space, offices, toilets, early landscaping and walking paths.
Council is calling on the state and federal governments to partner with it to bring to life the dream of an urban oasis in Melbourne’s west for all Victorians to enjoy.
The local community attended an information session at HD Graham Reserve on Saturday 23 March, where the plans for the early works, as well as the long-term vision for the site, were on display.
