Fail to stop ends in crash Brighton

A woman has been arrested following a three car crash at Brighton this afternoon.

Just before 4pm Tuesday 12 September police attempted to pull over a white Holden Captiva. The driver of the car failed to stop, but immediately crashed into a taxi and a Kia Sportage.

The driver of the Captiva, a 58-year-old Dover Gardens woman, was arrested by police and is expected to be charged with a number of traffic offences, including driving disqualified. She was also drug tested at the scene allegedly returning a positive reading for driving with methamphetamine in her system – her results will be sent to Forensic Science SA for further analysis.

The driver of the taxi was taken to Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the Kia was not physically injured.

Major Crash Investigators are heading to the scene as a precaution to assist local patrols with the investigation.

There are extensive delays on Brighton Road and Sturt Road. North bound traffic is blocked, one lane is open for south bound, and east bound is open on Sturt Road. However, there will be protracted delays, please avoid the area and find an alternate route if possible.
