FECCA congratulates re-elected Morrison Government

The Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) congratulates the Morrison coalition Government on being re-elected on Saturday.

After the election was called, FECCA outlined ten major priority areas for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) Australians, including a National Anti-Racism Strategy, the expansion of the role of the Race Discrimination Commission to include Multiculturalism and for wait times for citizenship applications be reviewed.

FECCA Chairperson Mary Patetsos said FECCA looked forward to continuing to work with the Morrison Government on these and other priorities.

“FECCA congratulations Prime Minister Morrison on the re-election of the Coalition Government on the weekend,” she said.

“FECCA looks forward to working closely with the Coalition Government on issues that are important to Australia’s migrant communities.

“That includes combating racism and hate speech and improving access and equity so that all Australians, no matter what their background, can fully participate in our society and economy.

“Today, one in three Australians was born overseas and half of us have at least one parent born overseas.

“Our incredible diversity is one of Australia’s greatest strengths, and FECCA encourages the Morrison Government to strive towards bringing the nation’s incredibly diverse communities closer together.”

FECCA is the peak, national body representing Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. FECCA’s role is to advocate and promote issues on behalf of its constituency to government, business and the broader community.
