Financial support for Aspire applicants

La Trobe’s flagship Aspire program is offering a significant financial boost to students, further recognising the importance of community involvement and volunteering.

As well as receiving an early course offer, this year’s La Trobe University Aspire program applicants are eligible for one of 40 scholarships, worth up to $20,000 each.

The scholarships – being made available for the first time this year – will be offered to select Aspire applicants who receive a minimum ATAR of 80.

The Aspire program recognises volunteering and community contribution, by giving students an early conditional offer, and access to unique support programs, industry connections and networking opportunities.

Forty successful applicants will receive $5,000 per year, starting in 2020, for the duration of their course up to four years.

La Trobe Vice-Chancellor Professor John Dewar said the Aspire program recognises students whose values align with those of the University.

“We know that community contribution makes a big difference, in personal development and in ensuring our students are ready for the workplace – equipped with the attributes employers are looking for,” Professor Dewar said.

Professor Dewar said the scholarships will further support students in their studies.

“Our new Aspire scholarships will be of great benefit as they will help ease financial pressure, enabling students to focus on their studies.”

Successful Aspire applicants will receive an early conditional offer for 2020, even before they complete their exams this year.
