Free flu vaccine program

We are commencing the free flu vaccine program for eligible residents this month.

Each year, we run the government-funded flu vaccine program between April and December. In 2021, we had 1204 people participate in the program. The majority of participants were young children.

Getting the flu vaccine will help protect you and your family against the most common strains of influenza.

In the lead up to winter, we are offering dedicated flu-only sessions between April and May to meet the increase in demand for the flu vaccine.

The latest advice from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) is the flu vaccine and the COVID-19 vaccine can be taken on the same day.

People eligible for the free flu vaccine are:

  • children from 6 months old up to 4 years 11 months
  • seniors aged 65 years or older
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • pregnant women
  • people (at least 6 months old) with medical conditions that may increase the risk of flu complications (e.g. severe asthma, low immunity).

You may need to provide evidence to receive the free flu vaccination. Our Health team will advise you of this before your appointment.

Bookings for the free flu vaccine are open. Further information is available on our Flu vaccinations webpage.
