The Crisafulli Government has announced a fresh start for the Board of the South Bank Corporation, appointing Karen Howard as Chair to lead the next chapter for one of Queensland’s most iconic cultural, tourism and lifestyle precincts.
The refreshed Board will help drive South Bank’s continued evolution as a world-class destination, ensuring it remains a key economic and tourism asset, while positioning the precinct to maximise the opportunities of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and deliver a lasting legacy for future generations.
Joining the Board are Sarah Vogler, Matthew Bourke, Liam McMahon, Elia Hill and the Honourable Trevor Evans, who bring extensive expertise across the property, tourism, local government, business and event sectors.
The South Bank Corporation Board is responsible for the strategic direction, management and long-term stewardship of the precinct, comprising eight State Government-appointed members and two Brisbane City Council nominees.
The refreshed Board brings the skills and experience needed to oversee South Bank’s ongoing renewal, strengthen its role as a driver of tourism and investment, and ensure the precinct is ready to showcase Queensland to the world in the lead-up to 2032 and beyond.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said the appointments reflected the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to delivering a fresh start for Queensland and ensuring the State remained a premier destination for visitors and investment.
“South Bank is one of Queensland’s most recognisable destinations and a major driver of tourism, culture and economic activity, welcoming millions of visitors every year to Queensland,” Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
“The Crisafulli Government is refreshing the Board to ensure South Bank continues to evolve, attract investment and remain one of the world’s great riverfront precincts.
“With the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, these appointments will help ensure South Bank is ready to welcome the world, showcase the very best of Queensland and transform the precinct to deliver a lasting legacy for Queenslanders.
“The Board’s diverse leadership experience will help shape South Bank’s future as a thriving destination precinct that supports jobs, investment and a stronger Queensland economy.”
