Further CCTV issued as detectives renew appeal for information into theft of silver bullion, NSW

Detectives have released further CCTV and are renewing their appeal for information, as investigations continue into the theft of silver bullion valued at $1 million from a truck travelling between Sydney and Melbourne.

Between 4.30pm on Friday 26 November 2021 and 8am on Monday 29 November 2021, a consignment of silver was allegedly stolen from a truck while in transit from Maldon, near Picton, to Melbourne in Victoria.

Upon arrival in Melbourne, the theft was discovered and officers from Camden Police Area Command were notified.

The consignment – 192 individual 5kg bars – was being transported by a Kenworth truck and silver Krueger trailer.

The silver bullion is estimated to be valued at $1,015,000.

Following initial investigations by local police, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Caimon.

In December (2021), Strike Force Caimon detectives released an image of one of the missing silver bullion bars and the packaging in which they were stored.

Following further investigations, police have now released CCTV vision of a vehicle of interest – a dark coloured Toyota Landcruiser utility – seen travelling on Argyle Street at Picton about 12.20am on Sunday 28 November 2021.

Detectives are urging anyone who may have information about the occupants or movements of the vehicles to come forward immediately.

Investigations under Strike Force Caimon continue.

Anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Caimon investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
