HRI’s Dr Marc Ellis awarded RCPA Kanematsu Research Award 2019 The National Tribune The National Tribune The National Tribune Health 11 Nov 2019 1:17 pm AEST Date Time Share HRI’s Dr Marc Ellis has received the RCPA Kanematsu Research Award 2019 to support his research into how platelets become activated by turbulent blood flow, and why this process is increased in diabetes.This prestigious award from the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) Foundation is granted annually through the Kanematsu Fund, in memory of its founder Fusajiro Kanematsu and his wife, Sen.Dr Ellis was awarded for his project ‘Investigating the role of the mechanosensitive ion channel Piezo1 in platelet function and diabetes’.
