Travelling Stock Reserve (TSR) Rangers have continued to conduct inspections of the TSR network assessing pasture and water point recovery.
Due to significant rainfall events and associated pasture recovery throughout the region, North West Local Land Services has amended its Walking Stock policy and conditions. The revised policy and conditions as defined in this document will commence on the 7 September 2020.
Applications will be assessed on a priority basis:
- Stock that are entering as a management movement to a destination at 10km per day and exiting the TSR on reaching the nominated destination.
- Stock that are entering from a property of origin that is in an area identified as Drought Affected, Drought or Intense Drought. The Drought Indicator can be found here.
- Other stock.
Applicants should be advised that special conditions will apply as a supplement to normal Walking Stock Conditions.
These will include but may not be restricted to:
- Maximum mob size of 1,000 Dry Cattle or 6,000 Dry Sheep
- A maximum of 600 Cows and Calves with calves over the age of three months
- Cows within 12 weeks of calving will not be permitted on the TSR
- A Maximum of 3000 Ewes and Lambs with Lambs over the age of three months
- Ewes within eight weeks of lambing will not be permitted on the TSR
- Calves or lambs younger than three months of age are not permitted on the TSR
- All stock entering the TSR must be capable of walking the prescribed distance per day (10 kilometers per day).
- All stock entering the TSR must meet ‘Fit to Load’ criteria outlined in the Meat & Livestock Australia guide – ‘Is the animal fit to load? – A national guide to the pre-transport selection and management of livestock’, September 2019
- Approved slow travel may be negotiated with the permitting Ranger
- A minimum of 5km per day.
