Labor’s deliberate sabotage of Tasmania’s housing and energy agenda

Guy Barnett, Minister for State Development, Construction and Housing

Labor needs to explain why they have deliberately tried to sabotage the Government’s attendance at critical meetings in Canberra relating to housing and energy.

On Tuesday, Labor approved, in writing, a pair so I could leave Parliament after today’s Question Time to attend these critical meetings, to stand up for Tasmania’s interests.

However, Labor have since reneged on this arrangement, for no other reason than to play politics.

This is a pathetic new low from Tasmanian Labor.

How can they claim to care about housing and energy, yet deliberately try to sabotage our attempts to push our case with the Federal Government.

Pairs are not requested lightly but the current challenges in housing and the vast opportunities in front of us with energy development, are too important to play politics with.

And Labor’s pathetic defence that Julie Collins lives in Tasmania simply doesn’t stack up, unless they bizarrely aren’t aware that Federal Parliament is sitting this week, and Ms Collins is in Canberra.

Labor must explain why they have backtracked and deliberately tried to sabotage our ongoing efforts to strengthen our State.
