Once again it seems that negative Labor has nothing better to do than play politics and attack TasTAFE at a time when they should be backing Tasmania’s public training provider.
The 2020 TasTAFE Annual Report highlights again high student satisfaction, with 91 per cent of graduates indicating they would recommend TasTAFE.
Employer satisfaction is also high, with 89 per cent of employers recommending TasTAFE’s training and 86 per cent satisfied with the training.
It is also important to note that until COVID-19 TasTAFE was on track to match or improve their numbers this year.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government recognises and supports the important role TasTAFE has to play as we recover and rebuild from the impacts of COVID-19.
That’s why we introduced SKILL UP for your future, a range of low or no cost short courses and skill sets offered at TasTAFE to boost people’s skills and improve their employability as the economy starts to recover.
We have committed $38 million into campus upgrades and brand new facilities right across Tasmania.
Furthermore, JobTrainer will support young Tasmanians with an additional $21 million dollars to provide thousands of additional low or no cost training placements in Tasmania.
What Labor is proposing is only half of what we will be investing in training places through JobTrainer.
Instead of undermining students, teachers and industry during a challenging time, the Labor party should support the critical role TasTAFE is playing as Tasmania recovers from the impacts of COVID-19.
