Leaders in environmental law enforcement

Head of Environmental Compliance, Monica Collins has been appointed chair of the Australasian Environmental Law Enforcement and Regulators Network (AELERT).

AELERT brings together environmental regulators from across Australia and New Zealand and includes membership countries from Guyana to Canada.

The appointment underscores the department’s focus on effective regulatory practices and strengthening Australia’s robust environmental compliance framework.

“I am honoured to be appointed as chair of AELERT and want to recognise my fellow members for their support and contributions to this important network,” Ms Collins said.

“AELERT is an invaluable resource for environmental regulators to build capability and best practice through collaboration.

“From training and webinars through to forums and conferences, AELERT seeks to create a strong community of regulators in our region.”

In her time with the department, Ms Collins has implemented a move to risk-based and intelligence led compliance to deliver better environmental outcomes.
