Learning for Earning Festival returns for 2022

Are you looking to learn new skills, change career, or start up a business? Then be sure to join the Learning for Earning Festival this month.

Melton City Council is among six councils in Melbourne’s west to come together for the free online festival on Wednesday 25 May and Thursday 26 May.

The flagship events include an employment forum where residents can learn about employment opportunities from employers, industry leaders and employment services; a panel where leaders from major employers in the west will share what they look for in applicants, as well as career paths, and training and qualifications needed; and a session on the diverse career paths available in local government.

The festival will also feature resume help sessions, an effective marketing workshop, and how to promote your small business on social media.

City of Melton Mayor Cr Goran Kesic said the festival was a great opportunity to learn about local employment opportunities and connect with major employers in the west.

“This festival is designed to help participants learn new skills and consider different career pathways,” Cr Kesic said.

“There are events that can help you write your resume, promote your business, and even mock job interviews. Or you could discover if a career in aged care or as a librarian is right for you.

“Participants also have the advantage of asking questions directly to major employers about what they look for in applicants, what jobs are available and what training and qualifications are needed for those jobs.”

Learning for Earning is brought to you by LearnWest, a network of six councils in the North/West – Brimbank City Council, City of Darebin, Hobsons Bay City Council, City of Maribyrnong, Melton City Council, and Wyndham City.
