Liberals and Nationals will upgrade Alexandra Community Leisure Centre

Liberal Party Victoria

Users of Alexandra Community Leisure Centre are set to benefit from a $125,000 commitment under a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government to kick start repairs and planning.

Funding will support a much-needed roof replacement. As well as provide for a feasibility study for a new or improved stadium to be conducted in conjunction with the Murrindindi Shire Council. This will allow for planning any further changes to the centre, including replacing the non-functional kitchen and changerooms that we well past their use by date.

Improvements will accommodate users including Alexandra Secondary College’s students, Alexandra and District Basketball Association and community members. The leisure centre is frequently used for PE classes, basketball, netball and squash games and training and community gym classes.

State Liberal Member for Eildon, Cindy McLeish, said she was pleased to announce the $125,000 investment to improve the centre, which will benefit regional students, local sporting clubs, and community members.

“The Liberals and Nationals’ know how important it is to invest in school, sporting, and community facilities in regional Victoria that too often miss out when planning for the future.”

“That’s why a Liberals and Nationals Government will implement a Regional Infrastructure Guarantee, committing 25 per cent of all new government capital investment for infrastructure projects like this in regional Victoria, up from the current 13 per cent.”

“The upgraded facilities will encourage sport participation in the surrounding community and benefit students.”
