Man facing court after officers assaulted, NSW

A man will face court tomorrow after a five police officers were assaulted at Rooty Hill overnight

About 11:15 pm (Saturday 28 September 2019) police initiated a pursuit of a vehicle after it failed to stop in Rooty Hill.

Shortly after the vehicle collided with another car on Francis Road. A group of young people alighted from the car, and three were arrested by police at the scene. Two further young persons were located after a search of the local area.

They were taken to Mount Druitt Police station

A 15-year-old boy was charged with drive conveyance without consent, exceed speed by more than 45kmh, police pursuit – not stop, driving while unlicensed. He was granted conditional bail and will appear in a children’s court on 21 October 2019.

His passengers were released pending further inquiries.

During the canvas of the area, police spoke to a man at Eastern Road, Rooty Hill. The man allegedly became aggressive and assaulted multiple officers.

Following a short scuffle, he was placed under arrest and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station. The 23-year-old man was not involved in the earlier crash.

He was charged with assault officer in execution of duty (x8), assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm (x2) and destroy or damage property (x1).

The Rooty Hill man was refused bail and will appear in Mt Druitt Local Court tomorrow (Monday 30 September 2019).
