A new Kalgoorlie Community Vaccination Clinic will open today, as part of the Summer Vax Drive, to give people the opportunity to get vaccinated and help protect themselves and their community against COVID-19.
Located at the Curtin Graduate Hall, 50 MacDonald Street, the clinic is open between 8am and 8pm until Tuesday, December 7.
Goldfields residents are encouraged to take advantage of the centralised clinic and more pop-up vaccination clinics to Roll up for WA and get vaccinated.
- Bega Community Vaccination Clinic, 21 Boulder Road, Kalgoorlie until December 17;
- Coolgardie Community Recreation Centre, Sylvester Street, until December 4;
- JG Epis Centre, Leonora until December 4;
- Noel White Centre, Black Street, Esperance from December 9-14; and
- Marks Park, Roberts Street, Norseman on December 3.
A new ‘mobile vaccine response team’ is also responding to call outs and visits to anyone expressing an interest in getting vaccinated.
The ‘Summer Vax Drive’ initiative runs until December 19 and means more convenient vaccination clinics and special events are open to help people get the vaccine.
Fixed clinics continue to operate at the following locations:
- Kalgoorlie Health Campus, Piccadilly Street;
- Coolgardie Health Centre, Hunt Street;
- Esperance Health Campus, Hicks Street;
- Kambalda Health Centre, Gum Nut Place;
- Laverton District Hospital, Beria Road; and
- Leonora Hospital, Sadie Canning Drive.
Additionally, the ‘Keeping Culture Safe and Strong: Vaccination Focus’ continues to run across the State to drive up the vaccination rates of Aboriginal communities as a community-led campaign. Local community members such as health staff, the local police, local shires and Aboriginal lead organisations will be yarning to community members and helping them to access a vaccination.
WA Health State COVID-19 vaccination clinics continue to operate with no appointment necessary at more than 100 locations across WA. Western Australians can also get vaccinated at GPs, pharmacies, Aboriginal Medical Services and GP respiratory clinics, which are managed by the Commonwealth.
Dates and opening hours vary depending on people’s preferred location, and people are urged to visit https://www.rollupforwa.com.au to find out where they can get vaccinated as soon as possible.
As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:
“WA has done so well and this is testament to Western Australians doing the right thing and following the health advice, which has kept us safe.
“It’s an incredible achievement to be living in a jurisdiction without community transmission of the virus and without any restrictions or lockdowns in place.
“It is so vital we get vaccinated now to hit the safe 90 per cent target so we have a highly vaccinated population and can have one of the softest landings out of this pandemic.
“There’s a range of opportunities across the Goldfields which makes getting the vaccine more convenient. Don’t pass up this opportunity before it’s too late.”
As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:
“We want everyone who is eligible in WA to get vaccinated.
“We do not want anyone left behind because we are all in this together.
“The Goldfields is such an important part of the fabric and economy of our State.
“Take the opportunity to protect yourself and your family during the Summer Vax Drive.”
As stated by Vaccine Commander Commissioner Chris Dawson:
“Now is the time to get vaccinated. Do it now as an early Christmas present to you and your family.
“The vaccine is the best way to protect yourselves against COVID-19 and the devastation it can bring.
“Get ahead of this virus while you have the opportunity. Don’t wait for it to come knocking on your door. It could be too late.”
As stated by Kalgoorlie MLA Ali Kent:
“We are doing everything we can to encourage Goldfielders to get vaccinated.
“We have had the benefit of our strong border arrangements but it is now so important that everyone understands COVID will make its way into WA – and vaccination is our best protection.
“I am always positive about what our community can achieve and I think with everyone’s help the Goldfields can do this.”
