Western Australian clinicians will now be able to participate in a national pilot program aimed at developing their entrepreneurial skills and vision, while continuing to deliver high-quality clinical care.
This exciting opportunity for WA clinicians to benefit from the Australian Clinical Entrepreneur Program (AUSCEP) has been made possible by the Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund.
AUSCEP is a program of the Researcher Exchange and Development within Industry (REDI) initiative of the Commonwealth’s Medical Research Future Fund.
The REDI program is delivered by MTPConnect, which is Australia’s Growth Centre for the medical technologies, biotechnologies and pharmaceuticals sector.
AUSCEP is led by experienced clinical entrepreneurs, and is administered by the Universities of Western Australia and Melbourne in partnership with a range of leading industry and healthcare organisations.
AUSCEP has been designed to equip healthcare professionals with better skills to transform their ideas and innovations into tangible solutions within the health system and is based on a very successful program of the UK’s National Health Service.
WA is one of three states participating in this pilot program, along with New South Wales and Victoria.
There will be two 12-month cohorts of this program, the first of these now being open for applications with the deadline of Monday 8 August 2022.
The AUSCEP will offer participants a series of workshops and networking opportunities, with access to national and international mentors and industry leaders.

“Making programs such as AUSCEP available to WA clinicians will help retain talented staff by not only supporting their entrepreneurial ambitions but by providing a pathway that helps them fulfil their vision.
“This support extends to clinicians of both the WA public and private health providers.”
