New health worker accommodation complete for Albury Wodonga region

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

Healthcare workers will benefit from new purpose-built accommodation with construction of 21 units at Albury Hospital now complete, delivering a major boost for the border region’s health workforce.

The Healthcare Worker Accommodation project was delivered thanks to a $9.5 million joint investment between the Australian and NSW Governments.

The Albanese Government contributed $7.5 million through the Albury Wodonga Regional Projects Program.

The NSW Government contributed $2 million through the Key Health Worker Accommodation Program, supporting the attraction and retention of essential healthcare workers in regional communities.

The units are fully furnished, self-contained and designed for comfort, featuring bright open plan living, a modern kitchen, ensuite bedroom, internal laundry and screened veranda.

The new accommodation complements the $558 million Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital redevelopment, one of the largest regional health investments across NSW and Victoria – bringing more beds, parking, and world-class facilities to the region.

By providing quality accommodation for healthcare workers, these units will help attract and retain a skilled workforce, supporting the expanded health services made possible by the redevelopment and enhancing healthcare delivery for the community.

Patients, visitors, and staff are also benefiting from additional onsite car parking at the Albury Hospital campus.

More than 120 additional parking spaces are now available on the Borella Road verge, with further spaces being delivered progressively throughout the year.
