The Childs Road Upgrade is taking another major step forward, with traffic shifting onto newly built lanes, enabling work to start on the northern side of the road.
Motorists will travel exclusively on the brand-new southern carriageway lanes from Thursday 9 December, subject to weather. Traffic will be shifted between Hawkes Drive and about 200 meters west of Crampton Crescent.
Crews will use the traffic switch to forge ahead with critical work including:
- asphalting
- improving drainage
- installing new street lightning.
We are progressing works on the new Darebin Creek bridge by building the deck and road surface. Meanwhile, motorists will continue to cross using the existing Darebin Creek bridge. The construction of the new bridge is on track and due for completion to carry traffic early next year.
