North Coast police boost

Nationals’ Member for Clarence Richie Williamson with new police recruits, Constables Gavin Butcher and Samuel Burton who graduated from the Goulburn Police Academy earlier this year and are stationed at Casino Police Station.

Six new probationary constables will be deployed in the Richmond and Clarence Valleys, following the Attestation ceremony of Class 359 at the Goulburn Police Academy.

Clarence Nationals MP Richie Williamson has announced Coffs/Clarence will receive two new officers while the Richmond District, which includes the Richmond Valley local government area, will receive four new officers.

“I welcome the new recruits to the NSW Police Force family and am delighted they will be joining the local ranks here in the Richmond and Clarence valleys,” Mr Williamson said.

“These officers are joining an outstanding team of police officers who serve the people of the Richmond and Clarence valleys with pride and who go above and beyond every day keeping our communities safe.

“Policing can be a dangerous and challenging job and we are indebted to all our police offers for putting their lives on the line as they serve with distinction.”

Mr Williamson said the new probationary constables follow on from over a dozen others who joined the local Police Districts he represents back in April. They are in addition to the record 1,500 increase in NSW Police numbers seen under the former Nationals Government in its last term.

Nationals’ Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said the arrival of two new police on the Coffs Coast is a welcome boost for local law enforcement.

Mr Singh, the Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, said he wishes the new recruits every success as they start their chosen career and settle into the local community they’re serving.

“I know these two new officers will be warmly welcomed by their Coffs/Clarence Police colleagues and the communities across our region,” Mr Singh said.

“I’m extremely proud of all our police for serving the Coffs Coast which such distinction, professionalism and dedication.

“Policing can be a difficult and dangerous job with enormous challenges. These officers put their lives on the line to keep the community safe, and I thank them for it.”
