The NSW Government and NSW Police Force have announced a reward of $250,000 for information that leads to the arrest and extradition of Anthony Pele, who remains one of Australia’s most wanted fugitives.
The reward is being offered as investigators intensify efforts to locate the 25-year-old man, who is wanted in connection with a number of serious criminal offences and has been at large for more than three years.
Anthony Pele is currently the subject of four outstanding warrants relating to a number of offences including murder, shoot at with intent to murder, conspiracy to murder, conspiracy to kidnap, and the supply of commercial quantities of prohibited drugs in New South Wales.
Police will allege Pele fled Australia in August 2023 and has evaded law enforcement authorities ever since.
Detectives attached to State Crime Command have continued extensive inquiries to locate and apprehend Pele and are working closely with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and international law enforcement partners as part of ongoing efforts to bring him before the courts.
While investigators believe Pele is currently residing overseas, his exact whereabouts remain unknown.
Minister for Police and Counter-terrorism Yasmin Catley said this reward brings the NSW Police one step closer to arresting one of Australia’s most wanted fugitives.
“The violence we have seen play out on our streets is horrific, even more so as innocent people have been caught up in it,” Minister Catley said.
“Those allegedly orchestrating these sickening crimes think they can avoid justice by paying others to carry out violent acts, while they’re living large overseas. They couldn’t be more wrong.
“The NSW Police are doing everything they can to bring these people to justice, and the NSW Government is backing them with $250,000.”
State Crime Commander, Assistant Commissioner Brett Greentree said this reward reflects our ongoing determination to hold Anthony Pele accountable, and confidence that there are people who may have information that can assist investigators.
“We know that fugitives rely on support networks, associates and others who may have knowledge of their whereabouts. Even the smallest piece of information could prove critical in locating Pele and facilitating his arrest,” Assistant Commissioner Brett Greentree said.
“Our investigators are working closely with law enforcement partners across Australia and overseas as part of a coordinated effort to find him. There is no limitation on our commitment to this investigation, and we will continue pursuing every lead until he is apprehended.
“If you know where Anthony Pele is, or if you have information about his movements, associates or whereabouts since leaving Australia, I urge you to come forward.””
Anyone with information about Anthony Pele is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is managed on a confidential basis. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
