The NSW Government is providing eligible owners corporations yet to register for Project Remediate another opportunity to do so.
Minister for Fair Trading Victor Dominello said registrations of interest have reopened for owners corporations of eligible residential apartment buildings to sign up for the program, which offers interest-free loans and expert construction teams to remove and replace combustible high-risk cladding.
In addition to the replacement of flammable cladding, work has also included the installation of previously absent elements such as fire barriers, moisture management and window heads, among other components.
“More than 200 owners corporations of eligible residential apartment buildings have opted-in to Project Remediate,” Mr Dominello said.
“My message to those yet to register is to closely consider the benefits of joining the program for the safety and benefit of their residents.”
NSW Building Commissioner David Chandler said works had commenced on two residential apartment buildings, with both expected to have their cladding removed and replaced by the end of November.
“Project Remediate is on track to achieve the NSW Government’s key objective: to improve the safety and quality of high-risk residential apartment buildings and protect the most important assets of thousands of people living in strata communities in NSW by the middle of 2024,” Mr Chandler said.
The closing date for owners to register for Project Remediate is 16 December 2022.
