NSW police appeal for information after child approach at Broken Hill

Investigators are appealing for information after two girls were approached by a male on their walk to school in Broken Hill yesterday.

Police have been told around 9.30am (Friday 28 February 2020), the 11 and 7-year-old girls were walking along Buck Street when they were approached by a man driving a black car who offered them a ride to school.

The girls refused the lift and walked straight to school where they informed the office of the incident.

Later that day, at 4.45pm, the girls, along with their mother, attended Broken Hill Police Station and alerted police who commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, officers from Barrier Police District are appealing for anyone who may have information, or who may have been in the area at the time, to come forward.

The man is described as being of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged 50 with grey hair.

He was last seen driving a black, four-door sedan.
