NSW police seek information after man stabbed

Police are appealing for public assistance following a stabbing in Sydney’s west overnight.

About 11.10pm (Saturday 19 February 2022), emergency services were called to a hall on Edison Parade, Winston Hills, following reports of a brawl.

Officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command attended and found an 18-year-old man with a stab wound to his thigh.

Police were told a group of people arrived at a party uninvited and were directed to leave. They left the scene; however, returned a short time later and a physical altercation occurred which left the 18-year-old man injured.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition, where he underwent surgery. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

A crime scene was established, and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

During a search of the crime scene, officers located and seized a number of exhibits, including a knife police believe to be linked to the incident. All items will be forensically examined.

As inquiries continue, police have released a description of a man who they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.

He is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, with a large build. He was wearing a black hoodie, black gloves and black ski mask.
