NSW public health alert – Anytime Fitness

NSW Health is calling on several hundred people who attended an Avalon gym to take urgent action, get tested and isolate immediately until further advice is provided by NSW Health

A known case of COVID-19 attended Anytime Fitness on Avalon Parade in Avalon over several days while infectious. A number of people who attended this gym will be identified as close contacts and will be required to isolate for 14 days.

These days were:

  • Saturday 12 December
  • Friday 11 December
  • Tuesday 8 December
  • Monday 7 December
  • Sunday 6 December

Anytime Fitness Avalon is closed until further notice and is undergoing cleaning.

Contact tracing and investigations are underway. The large time exposure range of this case means there are potential contacts numbering in the hundreds. NSW Health is working with the gym management to identify those people who attended the gym at the same time as the confirmed case.

Close contacts of this case are being contacted however NSW Health’s advice is that anyone who was at the gym at any time on these days must immediately get tested.

NSW Health last night issued a strong advisory for all people in the Northern Beaches local government area to wear a mask at all times when in indoor areas, and to stay at home. This advisory is in place this weekend or until further notice.

Everyone living in the northern beaches area should monitor for even the mildest of symptoms and come forward for testing immediately if they appear, then isolate until a negative result is received.
